Coaching Changes — Hallettsville

Hallettsville has hired Tommy Psencik as their next athletic director and head coach. Psencik will replace Rick Masek who accepted a position as the special teams and secondary coordinator at Round Rock Stony Point.
Masek leaves after coaching at Hallettsville for the last eight years. He became the athletic director and head coach in 2006. He had an overall record of 17-25 that included two playoff appearances. The Brahmas went 1-9 though last season. Psencik was the defensive coordinator at Hallettsville last season. Psencik was an assistant and defensive coordinator at Yoakum for 14 seasons and was their head coach in 2006. He led the Bulldogs to a 5-6 and reached the playoffs. He then left Yoakum to become an assistant coach at Victoria Memorial in 2007. Psencik then joing the Brahma staff last season. He has also been an assistant at East Bernard and Laredo Martin.
The Brahmas will be a member of District 14-2A Division I along with Altair Rice Consolidated, Edna, Hempstead, Hitchcock, Van Vleck and Vanderbilt Industrial. 2009 was their worst season in 26 years (1984) and the most wins in a season since 2005 is only 6.

Coaching Changes — Van Vleck

Van Vleck has named Greg Bagby their new athletic director and head coach. Bagby will replace Michael O’Guin who has led the Leopards for the last two seasons.
O’Guin has compiled an overall record of 4-16. The Leopards went 2-8 last season and 1-4 in District.
Bagby was the offensive coordinator at Ganado the last two seasons where the Indians advanced to the Class 1A, Division II semifinals both years. He has also been an assistant at Bastrop, Tom Bean, La Grange, East Bernard and Kerrville Tivy.
Van Vleck will be a member of District 14-2A Division I along with Altair Rice Consolidated, Edna, Hallettsville, Hempstead, Hitchcock and Vanderbilt Industrial. They are currently on a 5 year losing streak which is tied for the longest in school history.
