Coaching Changes — Arlington Lamar

Arlington Lamar Head Coach and Texas coaching legend Eddy Peach is retiring. Peach has been the only head coach at Arlington Lamar since it opened in 1970 and built it into one of the states best programs.

Coach Peach became one of only nine Texas high school coaches to win 300 career games in 2008. His 310-123-6 (71.30 winning percentage) all time record puts him at #7 on the all time coaching wins list. He was the first though to win all his games in Class 5A. He is one of only two coaches to win 300 games at one program (the other is Charlie Johnston -- Childress).

His teams qualified for the state playoffs 19 times. Something to consider is that for his first 19 years, only a district champion advanced to the playoffs. The Vikings advanced to the 1990 Class 5A state finals where they lost to Aldine. They also made it at least four rounds deep in the state playoffs six times, playing in the state semifinals in 2000 and 2003. His teams had a 15 year playoff qualifying streak from 1988 through 2000 and won 16 district championships. In his four decades of coaching, he suffered only four losing seasons.

Eddy's son, Scott Peach is head coach at Arlington High School. He won the head to head games with a 4-3 record.
